Nick was raised on the Chesapeake Bay in Stevensville, MD where he watched waterfowl fly over the bay. He started handling guns and skeet shooting with his parents at the age of 6. At age 10, he started waterfowl hunting on the Eastern Shore and by age 12, he began calling. He moved to Virginia at the age of 15 but never strayed far from hunting. His first hunting dog was a yellow lab named Sugar which he trained with the help of other trainers.
Upon graduating from high school, he received an associate degree from Wake Tech Community College in Technical Engineering. He went on to work for John Deere as a certified Deere mechanic. All his adventures continuously lead him back to hunting, calling, and working with dogs. Eventually all these stages in his life transpired into a passion for dog training. This is how Beer Dog Retrievers was born.
BEER DOG RETRIEVERS
Beer Dog Retrievers understand these are not only working dogs, but more importantly they are part of your family. That’s why it’s our mission to always provide the safest training and handling of your dog possible.
We are located in Stafford VA with access to private property around Stafford and nearby Fredericksburg which allows consistent venue changes for the dogs. This change provides your dog with test-like settings which helps train them to be ready in various situations and environments.
Why the name BEER DOG RETRIEVERS? No, we don’t train the dogs to retrieve beer, although that would be cool. The name came from the Hunt Test rules. In a hunt test regulation, it states that no alcohol shall be consumed while dogs are running, and test are active. Therefore, the last dog to run for the day is known as the BEER DOG.
